The Army of God

This first section consists of notes and commentary. The story
itself begins below with the title in all caps – THE ARMY OF GOD.
Those not wanting to read the background can jump straight to the
story and ignore this part.

Jeremy, my now 20 year-old eunuch student from last year,
bounded into my office this morning, the first day of registration
for the new semester. He brought with him a hard copy of the first
section of the latest story in the STB series from the Archive, "The
STB Clinic – Bill Smith." He wanted to show me how another writer
had extended the basic plot line which I had originally taken from
"Silver’s" one-page story and greatly expanded into STB Law 4 and
Ryan’s Story. Jeremy and I agreed that the new story is much better
written than my two contributions. The anonymous author is a fine
storyteller and his use of dialogue is convincing. He has clearly
found the proper voices for the various characters. My versions were
primarily political statements against the anti-abortion terrorists
and those who would blindly use the parts of the Bible that they like
as clubs, while ignoring the parts that they don’t like. But the new
story still contains that undercurrent and is far better written.
(The notes at the end of STB Law 4 give the full background to the
series.)

The story which I had planned to write for publication in a
mainstream publication has still been languishing on my computer,
untouched for months. The main character, Daniel, still isn’t
speaking clearly through me. I think that I have the basic plot
down, but it certainly isn’t literature yet. I am posting the ROUGH
DRAFT/plot outline here in hopes that the characters will speak to
another author, hopefully the one who has already moved the story
line forward and who is certainly a gifted writer. (Jeremy has
promised to bring me the later installments of "Bill Smith" when they
are posted.)

I am on leave from teaching this academic year and will not have
to work with any of the type of student who inspired my anger and my
writing in the first place. It is doubtful that there would be
anything to drive me back to finishing this story before next year at
the earliest. Since they have made me an "acting administrator", I
may not get back to teaching for some time. Hence, I have decided to
pass on the story in its current, unfinished form. Hopefully, any
finished version will posted elsewhere as well as to the Archive and
it will be more widely read as a "mainstream" story. The political
intent is, of course, important and the one castration incident is
designed to come as a shock to the "innocent" reader.

Whoever takes up this plot is, of course, free to change any
elements to make a better story. The names of the main characters
are intentional in my version. The hero, Daniel, is named, as he
says in the story, after the prophet, who was almost certainly a
eunuch. Ezekial is my least favorite of the prophets. His main
thrust was the importance of blindly performing all of the necessary
sacrifices and following all of the detailed rules and regulations of
the priestly clan. Ethical behavior is far less important than the
letter of the law. Isaiah, on the other hand, taught that God is
most pleased by those who live ethical and moral lives, those who
practice justice and honesty. An ethical life is more important than
blindly following religious law. The black/white : White/Black
incident is from my own childhood and messing with the minds of
(mostly racist) adults in the community is a cherished memory.
Easter Sunday, 2040 will fall on April Fool’s Day. While I have
listened to many fundamentalist preachers, I find them so repellant
that I have not been able to work on the details of Rev. White’s
brief prayer.

THE ARMY OF GOD

ABRAHAM LINCOLN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL, Friday, March 16, 2040

"O.K. class. Please open your textbooks to page 829: "The
World Economic Collapse and the Foundation of a Christian America".
"The authors describe the rapid collapse of most of the world’s
economies and all of the suffering that this caused in the United
States. They tell how this led to the election of the Þrst truly
Christian president and Congress. One of the Þrst actions of the new
Christian government was the passage of the Christian Morality and
Pro-Life Act. And soon after that came passage of the Freedom of
Religion amendment to the Constitution.
"What are some of the consequences that came from the election
of this Þrst Christian American government and the passage of new
laws and the Constitutional Amendment?"
     "Yes, Jeremiah."

"The Freedom of Religion amendment means that now we’re free to
pray in school. It means that everyone in school worships God and
reads the teachings of Jesus.’’

"Very good, Jeremiah. Yes, the government provides daily
prayers for all the teachers and students to read every day in school
and we teach the Bible in all our classes. Anyone else? Ezekial?"

"The Freedom of Religion amendment also means that my Dad is
paid by the government to be the minister at First Baptist. The
government collects taxes from everyone and then hires ministers to
serve in all the churches. People have the freedom to attend the
church of their choice without having to pay for it."

"Yes, Zeke. Very good. That’s certainly one of the most
important parts of freedom of religion. It’s now free and everyone
is expected to participate.
"The chapter also mentions the Christian Morality and Pro-Life
Act as the Þrst major law passed by the new Christian government.
Today is the thirty-Þfth anniversary of the passage of that law.
It’s had tremendous impact on the lives of all of us today. What are
some of the consequences of the law?"

     "Sarah"

"Yes, Miss Anderson. The Pro-Life Act has meant that
abortionists can’t kill babies anymore. It meant that women really
have to follow Jesus’ injunction and remain chaste until marriage.
They can’t kill their babies if they fornicate before marriage any
more."

"Very good, Sarah. Yes, it means that any girl who sins with a
boy will be branded as a harlot for life. She will be disgraced and
no one will ever marry her. She will be shunned for life. Both
girls and boys are now forced to remain chaste. The evil of pre-
marital sex disappeared almost immediately. Anybody else?"

     "Joel?"

"Didn’t it mean that instead of using abortions and birth
control to kill babies and keep families small, families started
having lots and lots of babies. Instead of two children, most
families now have twelve or thirteen children."

"Excellent, Joel. Not killing babies meant that the population
exploded. All families became very large. Pretty soon it was clear
that if the population kept growing, soon we wouldn’t be able to grow
enough food for everyone. Everyone worried about how to stabilize
the population without killing babies. This lead to the Family
Management Law of 2025 so that we could have a strictly Christian way
to keep the population down. Next week we’ll be reading about the
intense debate that went on as the country sought a proper Christian
way to control births. Killing babies through abortion or
contraception was clearly un-Christian. The Family Management Law is
based directly on the words of Jesus. It was designed so that
usually only the eldest son in any family could marry and have
children. How does the law work? Jesse."

"The law says that all boys get to become soldiers in the Army
of God on their fourteenth birthday. We all get to go to the Army
Induction Center and make our sacriÞce so that we can serve the Lord
more fully and we can work for the Kingdom of Heaven."

"Almost right. The eldest son in each family doesn’t get to
become a soldier for the Lord. He is expected to marry and have
children. It’s his Christian duty to carry on his family name and to
produce many more Christians to serve God. He may prefer to join the
Army of God, but he has to work for the Lord in a different way."

     "Yes, Daniel."

"Why do I have to wait until I’m fourteen. Why can’t I be a
soldier for the Lord right now? I don’t want to wait."

     "Me, neither!"

     "Me too!"

"O.K. O.K. You all know that you can all choose to accept
Jesus into your hearts and to become born again any time that you
feel you are ready to make that decision. I know that many of you
made that decision to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior
when you were seven or eight years old. Twenty-one was set many
years ago as the age at which children become adults. It was decided
when the Family Management Law was passed that they needed to chose
some age between these two. They decided that fourteen was old
enough for each of you boys to make your own decision to become a
soldier in the Lord’s army. Don’t worry. You’re in the eighth grade
and all of the boys in this class will turn fourteen before the end
of the year. In only a few weeks all of you who are not eldest sons
will get to be a soldier in the Army of God and help to create the
Kingdom of Heaven."

_______________excerpts from Daniel’s Diary_______________

Sunday, March 18, 2040

Zeke invited me to First Baptist to hear his father’s sermon
this morning. I like going to the Baptist church once in a while.
Reverend White’s sermons are much more exciting than Father Patrick’s
are at St. Mary’s. The choir is more exciting than the Catholic one
too. The sermon this morning was on Acts 8, the early Christian
mission effort. Zeke said that it is his father’s favorite section
of the Bible and he gives a sermon on it about every two years.
I hadn’t thought about it, but Zeke pointed out to me that my
ancestors are from England and Germany and that the story of Philip
and the conversion of the Ethiopian eunuch tells of his African
ancestors becoming Christian centuries before my European ancestors
did. Zeke said that his father likes to jab his mostly White
congregation with the story as often as he can. It also tells us how
important it is to bring the entire world to Christ. How important
it is for us to become soldiers for the Lord.
Once Zeke pointed it out to me, I like the story too. It shows
how much we need to go out and take Christ’s message to ALL the
world, just as Philip and the Ethiopian did. Zeke said that the
Ethiopian is his older brother Seth’s hero. He wants to be just like
him and is already studying Swahili so that he can help spread the
true word of Christ in Africa.
In only two weeks both Zeke and I will join the Army of God so
that we can fully serve the Lord. It’s great that my best friend has
the same birthday as I do, so we can join together in only two more
weeks. I’m ready! I want to help do God’s work.

I noticed in Þrst period today that Isaiah was absent. The
class was so much quieter without him questioning everything that the
teacher said. I didn’t think much of it until Jared mentioned at
lunch that today was Isaiah’s 14th birthday and that he had made his
sacrifice and joined the Army of God today. I was surprised. Isaiah
had said that he didn’t want to make his sacriÞce. He wasn’t ever
going to join the Lord’s Army. He said that he can live a good
Christian life without making his sacrifice. He’s always been
strange.
Jared lives next door to Isaiah and he said that Isaiah’s father
had told him that he wouldn’t pay the Army Support Tax and that
Isaiah would have to join the Army of God. He didn’t have any
choice. Jared said that he had heard a lot of arguing and shouting
from Isaiah’s house for the past two days.
It seems very strange. Most of us can hardly wait to make our
sacrifice and join the Army. Even the eldest sons want to join the
Army of God. They wish that it weren’t their Christian duty to marry
and have children. They’d rather serve the Lord as members of his
Army. I wish I didn’t have to wait until my 14th birthday next week.
I want to join with the Lord right now!!!
At dinner tonight Dad talked about his day at the Army Induction
Center. He said that Isaiah was brought to the Center by his father
and two of his uncles. He was screaming that he didn’t want to make
his sacriÞce as they dragged him in. Dad said that he had asked them
to bring him back in the afternoon, after all of the other boys had
made their sacriÞce. He didn’t want Isaiah to disturb the joyful
event for the rest of the boys.
Dad said that he had fewer than one boy a year who wasn’t ready
to make his sacriÞce. Only once in a great while did a father decide
to forcibly enlist his son in the Army. The 25% Army Support Tax is
high enough for fathers to try to persuade reluctant sons to join the
Army, but every boy wants to enlist anyway.
Dad said that when Isaiah’s father and uncles brought him back,
he had had to ask Caleb, his nurse, to help the three of them hold
Isaiah while he gave him a sedative to calm him down. It then took
four adults to strap Isaiah down to the table in the small induction
room. Even with the sedative, he was screaming and struggling right
up until he made his sacriÞce to join the Army of God.
Dad said he hoped he wouldn’t have to go through that again. He
was glad that most boys are so anxious to make their sacriÞce. I
know that I am!

I went to Zeke’s house after school today so that we could do
our homework together. We spent a little time on U.S. History, but
mostly we studied for the Math test on Friday. It’s just like Mr.
McLaughlin to give us a big test on the day before Easter Vacation!
I didn’t know that the Army of God was named after a small group
of freedom Þghters who had fought to stop baby-killing before the
Þrst Christian American government was elected. In history today we
read how they had bombed baby-killing centers and had even shot some
doctors who had murdered babies. They had served the Lord, just as
Zeke and I will be able to do after we make our sacriÞce next week.
While we were studying for the math test, Zeke said that he was
going to do the homework that would be due on the Monday after
Easter. He thought that I should do it too. I couldn’t believe that
he would think of such a thing. We were both going to make our
sacriÞce on Good Friday. We wouldn’t be in math class on the
following Monday. He said that since he and I are the top two
students in math, it would be a great joke to play on Mr. McLaughlin
to have him Þnd our papers in the stack. We could get someone like
Jared to slip them in when Mr. McLaughlin wasn’t looking.
That’s why Zeke is my best friend. He’s got a great sense of
humor. We’ll get together next week to do the homework. I know that
I’m so excited about Þnally getting to make my sacriÞce that I’ll
have a hard time concentrating on it. I probably won’t even be able
to concentrate on Friday’s test.

Sunday, March 25, 2040

Sunday school today was about some ancient members of the Army
of God. We read part of the book of Daniel - I was named after him,
and I’ve always hoped that I could become more like him. We learned
all about how Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem and
besieged it. When he captured the city, he commanded Ashpenaz, to
bring some of the people of Israel to serve in the king's palace.
Among the boys he took were Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego. These boys kept their faith in God even though they served
the king.
Later King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of a false god out of
gold. Then King Nebuchadnezzar called all his people to worship the
statue of the false god. When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were
told to bow down and worship the image they refused. They were true
soldiers for the Lord and didn’t waver in their faith. They were
ready to die for the Lord. Nebuchadnezzar þew into a rage and cast
them into a Þery furnace.

"Then these men were bound in their coats, their hose, and their
hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the
burning Þery furnace.
"Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the
furnace exceeding hot, the þame of the Þre slew those men that took
up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego.
"And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down
bound into the midst of the burning Þery furnace.
"Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in
haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did net we cast
three men bound into the midst of the Þre? They answered and said
unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four
men loose, walking in the midst of the Þre, and they have no hurt;
and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Daniel 4:21–25"

Because the three were faithful to God and did not waver, He
saved them from the furnace and they received honor from
Nebuchadnezzar.
Only a few more days until I get to be a soldier in God’s army
just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! I’ll be faithful to the
Lord too!

A whole group of us met at the junior high this afternoon to
play basketball. I was surprised that Jesse wasn’t there. He never
misses a game. Jeremiah told me that Jesse made his sacriÞce
yesterday morning. It was his fourteenth birthday. Since there’s no
school this week, I didn’t know about it. He hadn’t said anything
about it last Friday in school. I guess that his father wasn’t
willing to pay the Army Support Tax for even a few days so that Jesse
could wait until Good Friday to make his sacriÞce. The game wasn’t
nearly as much fun without him. While I’m happy for him, now that
he’s in the Army of God, I sure missed all of his jokes during the
game. He’s always been a lot of fun to play with.
Jesse’s always wanted to join Zeke and me. He’s wanted to make
it the ‘‘three musketeers’’ rather than just our regular pair.
Zeke’s been my best friend since his family arrived in town when we
were in the third grade. We were friends even before we discovered
we have the same birthday. Zeke started it by joking that his name
was White and he was Black and that my name was Black and I was
certainly the whitest person he’d ever seen. Zeke is just about the
darkest Black person I have ever seen and my skin is about as pale as
it can get. Even my hair is so blonde that it disappears when it’s
wet. We’ve had a lot of fun with strangers who see us together and
comment on our being black and white. We immediately say that yes,
he’s White and I’m Black. And then we play games with their heads
until they’re totally confused. It’s fun! Jesse’s last name is
Green and he’s tried to join in by saying that he’s Green and tan.
It doesn’t quite work, but we’ve still had a lot of fun together
anyway.
At least Zeke and I only need to wait until Friday to join Jesse
in the Army of God. We’ll get to see him soon. We’re both looking
forward to it. I can hardly wait.

Ash Wednesday, March 28, 2040

Dad and I had a long talk after dinner tonight about my sacriÞce
on Friday. He’s been the AIC doctor in town since the year I was
born. He’s helped hundreds of boys to make their sacriÞce to join
the Army of God. He wanted to make sure that I fully understood what
was going to happen to me. He also wanted to tell me a little bit
about the history of the army, something that we don’t get very much
of in church or in school.
Dad started by reminding me that he’s the youngest boy in a
family of thirteen children. If boys had been allowed to join the
Army of God when he and his brothers were younger, he would have
joined and I would never have been born. I wouldn’t have so many
uncles and cousins either. I have 120 cousins just on his side of
the family, and there are nearly another hundred on Mom’s side.

"When the Þrst Christian American government was Þnally elected,
they immediately passed the Christian Morality and Pro-Life Act,
which made all types of baby killing illegal. They were all devoutly
Christian and were working to build the Kingdom of Heaven in America.
They thought that all Christian Americans would be able to abstain
from sex and keep family size at about the same level that it had
been with abortion, baby-killing, and contraception.
"What they discovered was that very few men were able to be
properly celibate. Though women were easily able to remain chaste,
men found it nearly impossible. Even Catholic priests, who had taken
a vow of chastity were frequently unable to maintain their vow. What
were ordinary people able to do? After a few years with the new law,
the population was exploding with most families having at least ten
children and many having even more. It was clear that there would
soon be too many people to feed. In order to build the Kingdom of
Heaven, they had to Þnd some fully Christian way to keep the
population under control.
"While they all knew that God would provide, they needed to Þnd
out how. Religious and government people began reading the Bible
carefully to see what ways to control the population would be totally
Christian. To their amazement, they found, of course, that Jesus
himself had pointed the way. All boys, other than the eldest son,
were to be allowed to join the Army of God and to work for the Lord.
It was their Christian duty to do their part to produce the Kingdom
of Heaven in America.
"The government passed the Family Management Law establishing
Army Induction Centers like the one where I work. My job is to help
boys make their sacriÞce as they join the Army of God. They come to
me so that I can help them to do the Lord’s work. Of course, not all
boys join the Army of God. Eldest sons are required to do their
Christian duty and produce children to carry on their family name.
All younger sons are free to join. Some fathers, though, prefer not
to have their sons join the army. They can pay a very high Army
Support Tax and prevent their sons from joining even though all boys
want to join with God in this work.
"You will be making your sacriÞce on Good Friday, the same day
that Christ made his sacriÞce by crucifixion. The Romans used
crucifixion because it was the most painful way to die. Your
sacriÞce, though, will be painless. This should be a joyous
celebration of joining with the Lord. It will require some cutting
and blood, though. It was decided that the sacriÞce should not be
done with chemical or bloodless means. You should be fully awake so
that you know what is happening. You will be given enough pain
killer that you will not feel anything while I cut, and it will all
be over in just a few minutes."

Dad then went on to describe the whole procedure in great detail
so that I would know what was going to happen. He had already told
me about it several times, and I had even looked at the pictures in
one of his medical books. He said that I was going to make my
sacriÞce on my 14th birthday and that this year my birthday fell on
Good Friday. He expected that there would be many more boys than
usual arriving at the AIC on Friday morning. He usually had about 10
or 12 boys joining the Army of God every day, but there had been only
7 or 8 for the past few days. He thought that fathers were paying
taxes to keep their sons out of the Army long enough so that they
could make their sacriÞce on the same day that Our Lord made his.
Since boys who made their sacriÞce on their 14th birthday, the Þrst
day we could, always went Þrst, and that since I was a very good
student in school, I would probably be the Þrst to make my sacriÞce
on Friday. He wanted me to set a good example for all of the others
to follow.
I told him that since it was also Zeke’s 14th birthday, he would
go Þrst. He’s the best student in the whole eighth grade and he
scored a lot higher than me on our last Bible exam. I knew that Zeke
was looking forward to making his sacriÞce as much as I am. He’s my
best friend and we’ve talked about it a lot.
Dad said that in his excitement about my sacriÞce, he’d
forgotten about Zeke. He would ask Zeke’s father to give the prayer
on Friday morning before we started. There’s a different minister
every day and Reverend White’s turn isn’t really until next week. He
thought that he would appreciate being able to be present for Zeke’s
sacriÞce though.
I think it will be great too. We may be Catholic, but Reverend
White is a lot more fun to listen to than Father Patrick is. I
wonder what he’ll say as he prepares us for our sacriÞce? I even go
to the Baptist Church with Zeke once in a while to hear Reverend
White and, especially, to listen to their church choir. The Baptists
sure sing better than the Catholics!

Good Friday, March 30, 2040

There was no way that I could sleep last night. I lay awake
wondering what it would feel like to become a soldier in the Army of
God today. I knew that Dad would do everything he could to make it
quick and painless, but I was still worried a little bit. I know how
much he and Mom have looked forward to me becoming a soldier for the
Lord. I’ve been waiting for it to happen for a long time too.
Mom made my favorite breakfast for me this morning and all of my
brothers and sisters were there to wish me a happy 14th birthday.
They were all happy that I will soon be a soldier in the Army of God—
the Þrst one in my family. After breakfast they all hugged me and
kissed me and said good-bye before Dad and I set off for the Army
Induction Center. It’s good having the AIC doctor as my father. I
know what to expect better than most of the boys do. We had to get
there early, of course, so that Dad could get everything ready. I
sat down to read the Bible while I waited. This morning I read from
Psalms.
Pretty soon the other boys who had just turned 14 showed up.
Everybody was excited and we were all early for our sacriÞce. Most
of the boys were brought by their whole families and there was a lot
of hugging and kissing outside the Induction Center before they, one
by one, came in and sat down to wait.
Promptly at 9 o’clock, the receptionist, Miss Anderson,
congratulated us all on this happy day. She said that since there
were so many of us this morning that we would have to make our
sacriÞces in two shifts. Those of us who had our 14th birthday today
got to go Þrst. The others would have to wait until after we were
Þnished. There were enough Bibles for everyone to read until their
turn came.
Then she sent the 11 of us who had our birthday today to the
sacriÞce room. We all stood there waiting for Dad to come in and
start us on the path to becoming soldiers for the Lord. The stained
glass window of the cruciÞxion on the north wall of the sacriÞce room
is beautiful. We will all have our heads toward it as we make our
sacriÞce.

"Good morning boys. Congratulations on reaching your fourteenth
birthdays. As second and later sons, you all are all allowed today
to become soldiers in the Army of God. Today is one of the biggest
groups I’ve ever been privileged to induct into the Lord’s Army.
Twenty three of you are here this morning because you are now
fourteen and you have decided of your own free will to become a
soldier for God. The eleven of you who have your fourteenth birthday
today will be Þrst and you will be allowed to enter the Lord’s Army
in the order of your scores on your most recent junior high school
Bible exam. I know that you would all like to be Þrst, but a test of
your knowledge of the Bible has been determined to be the fairest way
to decide. The other twelve who are waiting turned fourteen in the
past few days and have put off their enlistment so that they could
join with the Lord on Good Friday, the day of Christ’s sacriÞce by
cruciÞxion. They will make their sacriÞces after yours.
"I’m especially proud that my own son, Daniel, is a part of
today’s group. I know that he’s been looking forward to this day for
a long time. So have his mother and I. He’s my second son and the
first to become a solder for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He’s a
good Christian boy and he has studied very hard for his Bible tests
and to be ready for today. He gets to be the second boy to become a
soldier in the Army of God this morning. Ezekial White had a perfect
score on the last test and he gets to be Þrst. Congratulations,
Zeke, I know how proud your parents are for you.
"This morning you will all enter the Lord’s army the same way
that you entered this world. You will all need to get completely
undressed and take off any rings or watches as well. Then we will
start with some shots of pain killer. There is no need for any pain
or suffering as you all gloriously enter the service of our Lord. As
soon as the pain killer has taken effect we will begin.
"Would you please all get undressed now. There are some baskets
at the back of the room. Please fold your clothes neatly and put
them in a basket for your parents to take home. We will dress you
all in white robes after your sacriÞces and help your families to
take you home this afternoon. I know that your families are all
planning parties in your honor to celebrate your entry into the Army
of God.
"Caleb will be in shortly to give you your shots of pain killer
and then Reverend White, Zeke’s father, will come in to lead us all
in prayer before we begin."

We all got undressed as quickly as we could and pretty soon
Caleb came in. We all took turns lying on the table and he gave us
our shots of pain killer and a strong sedative so that we would all
relax before Dad began. Even though we all knew that there would be
cutting and blood, the sedative was so that no one would get upset
when he really saw it happening. Some boys have trouble with the
sight of blood. Caleb said that it would only take about Þve minutes
for the pain killer take full effect. We shouldn’t be able to feel
anything as we became soldiers for the Lord. He said that it was a
joyous event and that there was no need for any pain as we joined the
Army of God.

     "Good morning boys."

     "Good morning Reverend White."

"I’m happy to be here this morning for this glorious event. I
always enjoy coming to the AIC to help boys enter into the Lord’s
service. I am also very pleased to be able to usher my own son into
the Army of God this morning. I wish that I could have been here
when his older brother made his sacriÞce. I’m happy for all of you.
This is an event which is good for everyone. It’s good for society
to maintain its population stability through purely Christian means.
It’s good for all of you that you will be able to better serve the
Lord through your sacriÞce this morning. The pain killer takes
effect very quickly and I know that Dr. Black wants to have time to
Þnish all of your sacriÞces before it begins wearing off the boys who
will be last. There is also another group of boys even larger than
this one waiting to make their sacriÞces this morning. We have only
a brief time before we should begin.
     "Let us all pray:
"Dear Lord, please welcome these eleven boys into your fold this
morning. They have all worked hard toward this moment, diligently
reading the Bible and studying the words of Jesus. They willingly
make this sacriÞce to more fully serve you. They are anxious to
enter joyously and fully into your service. We commend them to your
merciful service.
     "Amen"

     "Amen"

"Reverend White, since Ezekial will be the Þrst of the boys to
enter into the Army of God this morning, you’re welcome to stay and
help us to celebrate his sacriÞce. You can stand at the side of the
table and hold his hand if you want."

"Thank you. I would really like to be present for his sacriÞce.
I’ve been looking forward to this moment ever since the day Ezekial
was born. I wish that I could have been present when his older
brother made his sacriÞce two years ago."

"Ezekial, would you please get up on the table and lie down.
Daniel, since you get to be second, you can also stand on the other
side of the table and watch what will be happening to you next. If
you want, you other boys can each watch the boy ahead of you make his
sacrifice as well. Aaron, you will get to watch Daniel make his
sacrifice. Seth, you can watch Aaron, and so on.
"O.K., Zeke, would you please scoot down toward me and get
ready. Here, let me get you into proper position. You’ll need to
stay perfectly still once I start cutting. It will take just a few
minutes for your sacriÞce.
"O.K., you can recite your Bible verse now. I’ll start just as
soon as you Þnish it."

Just as Zeke Þnished the last words of the verse, Dad made two
quick cuts and Zeke’s bluish-white testicles popped up, ready to be
removed: "For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their
mother's womb; and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of
men; and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the
kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him
receive it." (Matthew 19:12)

Our goal is a Christian nation. We have a Biblical duty, we are
called by God, to conquer this country. We don’t want equal time.
We don’t want pluralism.
