Indian traveler robbed, knifed Victim's penis was cut in 'lesson'

Two men attempted to circumcise a man of Indian descent by force this month after robbing him of his wallet and calling him an Arab, a Fort Wayne police report said.

According to the report, made public Saturday, the man came to Fort Wayne on Sept. 18 looking for a job and a place to stay.

About 10 p.m., he pulled off Interstate 69 at Dupont Road into a shopping complex, where a man approached him and asked for directions.

When the Indian man said he was not from the area, another man, who was driving the car of the man seeking directions, pulled out a knife. The two men then started yelling at the Indian man about not being American and called him an Arab, the report said.

The two men then demanded the man's wallet, which he handed over. They then told him to drop his pants and boxer shorts, and again the man complied, according to the report.

The men whispered something to each other before turning back to the Indian man and stating they were going to "teach him a lesson." One man told him, "To be an American, you have to be circumcised," the report said.

The driver then cut a wound the size of a penny on the tip of the Indian man's penis, police said. As he cried, the men laughed, then drove away, the report said.

The Indian man went to a local hospital for treatment and reported the crime to police Friday morning, according to the report.
