Boys' Day
Nancy Carrigan Susana Washington Grade 6 Ms. Van Patten March 21, 2047 Boys' day is a very important day in the school year. Boys' day happens every March, just before Spring Break. We celibrate boys during Boy's Day. Not all boys are treated the same during Boys Day. Principal Andrews decides who will stay boys and who will change to men. She uses several different things to decide. She uses the national standards test. She uses the recommendation of our teachers. She uses a doctor's report. Then she makes a list. Me and Susana Washington were allowed to observe during boys' ceremony. We had to be quiet and serious. During gym class the boys take a shower first, instead of last. Then they line up in the gym. They are not allowed to wear clothes, even underwear. Principal Andrews then reads the first names on her list. Those boys are excused. Boys that are excused are very smart or very good athletes (Go Panthers!) or both. Those boys go to the library. The other boys get help to stay boys. Staying a boy is good. We know that before boys' days started, there was lots of war and crimes in the world. Now it is better. Those boys stay in the gym. Ms. Andrews calls their names one by one and they come up to a table. They bend over the table and Nurse D'matio feels between their legs. Boys have a scrotum. Nurse D'matio feels their scrotum to find their cords inside. Nurse D'matio puts a small tool like a sissors against the cords. She steps on a button on the floor and electricity burns the cords. The cords would bring bad chemicals to the boys' bodies that should be stopped. When Nurse D'matio pushes the button the boys jump and gasp. Some of the boys cry and then Ms. Andrews teases them. The other boys tease them too. Because Billy Laurens has a long scrotum and his cords were easy to find, Nurse D'amatio let us do Billy. We both felt Billy's cords. We pushed them to the back of his scrotum. I held them there and Susana put the zapper on them. The zapper clamps them from both sides. When the cords were clamped I stepped on the button. Billy jumped, and the sack rolled around and got smaller. Nurse D'matio says that is the balls trying to get away, but they can't. We thanked Nurse D'amatio and Billy for letting us try the zapper. When we took the zapper away, Nurse D'amatio showed us two white spots. That is where the electricity went through Billy's scrotum. She said Susana and I did a good job. After the boys' ceremony the boys put their gym clothes on. They get small ice bags to put between their legs. They sit in the gym bleachers and Principal Andrews told them how proud she was of them. Then they eat cake and ice cream. Susana and I then returned to girl's gym. Later there is an assembly and Principal Andrews and some High School students gave a presentation on how important boys are. In June Nurse D'amatio will come back to boy's gym and check that all the boys' cords are burned. She said we should come back and check if Billy's balls are still there. She showed us how Billy's balls were firm and seperate just after we burned his cords. In June they should be mushy and mixed together. That is the way boys' balls should be, but they need help. Thank you Principal Andrews and Nurse D'amatio for letting us see the boys' ceremony for our report on holidays in our country.
