Self Circumcision
Hello, my name is James and I am a body piercer from England. I have modified (enhanced?!) my penis in a number of ways, including circumcision, and I hope that you will be interested in reading about my experiences! It all started when I was very young (6 or 7) and my cousin and I used to go swimming together. We were in the showers after swimming one day when I glanced down at my cousin's penis, and to my horror noticed that the tip of his penis looked raw and red! Of course I had no idea that this was his glans, which presumably because he is four years my senior, had become detatched from his foreskin. He assured me that it was completely normal, and not at all sore! He could not tell me, however why I was unable to retract my foreskin, and naturally I thought that there was something wrong with me. You can probably imagine my delight (and relief!) when, a few years later my own foreskin detatched itself from my glans. Because of this childhood worry, I have always been fascinated by my ability to retract my foreskin, and when I was still quite young, it occurred to me that if I cut my frenum (which I also thought was an abnormality- my parents never told me anything!) I would be able to pull my foreskin right back untill the skin was smooth. When I first started to masturbate and later have sex, I realised that although my frenum was quite normal it got sore if I got an erection for an extended period, and that if it were possible to cut it, well that could only be a good thing! My first foray into modification was a Prince Albert piercing. For anyone who doesn't know, a Prince Albert, or PA is a piercing in which the ring passes throug the meatus and comes out near the frenum. I did this piercing on myself with a darning needle, and it didn't hurt as much as it probably should have considering that I had no access to anaesthetic. The piercing healed very quickly with no complications and this gave me encouragement that I could do that kind of thing to myself and survive! Incidentally, it was a conversation about my PA that got me a job as a body piercer six years ago so I am doubly glad that I did it! Sexually, the PA is a wonderful piercing, the sensation which can only be felt not described and I would recommend it to any man. The only downside is that it alters the flow of urine somewhat, but you get used to aiming accurately again quite quickly. I have slept with quite a few girls since the piercing, and all have praised it except one, who said that it hurt her a bit. Next were my implants. These were little (4mm dia.) titanium balls which I implanted under my shaft skin. Fortunately, I was a body piercer by then, so I had the appropriate equipment. I did a row of six balls along the dorsal (top side) of my shaft and they all hurt like hell! Sadly, in my then uncut skin, they just bunched up at the base of my penis during sex, so they were pretty much useless! (after all that pain!...) Next was my frenum. My PA went slightly to one side at the frenum area to avoid actually going through the frenum itself. This made my frenum even tighter as it had to stretch slightly to accomodate the ring when I was erect. I took my PA out (they don't tend to close up once you have had it for a while) so that it didn't get in the way, then I pierced my frenum. The piercing healed in about two weeks with no problems except that urine passing through the PA hole made it sting a LOT! I then stretched the piercing with a small weight until it was about 10mm in diameter. the reason that I used this method was that I would be able to snip it with scissors rather than slice into it with a blade the and there would be only the tips of the cut ends that would need to heal, the space in between being already fully healed. The two ends of the divided frenum shrank away to nothing which looked better and gave more free skin around the area of the scar so that it is still nice and sup ple and sensitivity is retained. My frenum is by far the neatest I have ever seen- it looks like I was born that way and I would recommend the 'pierce- then- snip' method over the 'slice' method every time.It bleeds less using this method, too which is a consideration with the frenum, as it has a good blood supply! All of this brings us round to the reason for the circumcision. I had cut out my disappointing implants but wanted to redo them on a circumcised shaft- the idea of the implants was good, but the foreskin spoiled my fun! The main reason, though was that after being able to retract my foreskin to its fullest extent due to the lack of frenum, I got an insight as to what it would be like to be circumcised and I loved it! Initially, I tried just wearing my foreskin back, but it never stayed back for long and used to painfully trap pubic hair, so I came to my decision. At first, I tried to convince my Doctor that I needed it done, saying that it got sore during sex, recurrent infections etc. but he could probably tell that I was lying and refused (he did give me some cream though- never mind, worth a try!) I did a search on the net and came up with the circlist website and after reading the articles written by others who have performed their own circumcisions, and coupled with my extensive experience at hacking my genitalia to pieces, I thought 'I could do that...' At the time, I had just split up with my girlfriend, so I reasoned that now was the time to give it a try. On my first attempt, I used a plastic 35mm film tub and as I was concerned about using metal wire due to possible allergic reaction, I opted to use Nylon cable ties (or zippy tags - the plastic loops that go zip! when you close them- I don't know what people in other countries call them) I experimented with how much skin to remove and chose to do it quite loose, reasoning that I could always take more off later but could not put skin back on if I took too much off! I tightened the tag, and to cut a long story short, I removed it nine hours later as I was in agony! On examination, it transpired that cable ties are no good because at the join, there is not so much pressure. Basically, a slight blood flow was still possible and so haemostasis did not occur fully, keeping the nerves alive. I left it for a day, and since my penis looked surprisingly normal with no sign of damage from its traumatic experience, I decided to give it another go. I used the film tub again, but this time I tied it with string with a little superglue to keep the knot from slipping over the few days it would take to heal. The pain was instant but faded very quickly unlike the last time. The skin went dark and then started to hurt again. The pain was the same as the first attempt and I paniced slightly thinking that I didn't tighten the string adequately and I would have to abort for a second time. The pain subsided gradually, maybe it was the nerves having their last gasp or something, and the skin went very dark and numb. I waited a few hours and then started to cut the skin away with a razor blade, but surprisingly I discovered that this made me feel squeamish and light headed (I don't like the thought of slicing...) I thought I would leave that till later or see if it dropped off by itself. The next day, most of the skin at the tip had gone black and it had dried and shrunk, adhering to the film cannister. The remaining skin looked like it was headed the same way, except for one area in which there was a worrying amount of swelling. After some deliberation, I decided that I needed to remove the skin- I was worried about the swelling and about having that amount of necrotic tissue near the site of healing (plus it was hideous to look at!). I used a new razor blade and sliced quite slowly from the tip of the foreskin to almost where it met the string, then lifted and cut around the circumference. The cutting was by no means painful, but I could still feel it a little, indicating that some tissue had living nerves still present. There was a tiny amount of bleeding which stopped pretty much as soon as it started- the blood was pretty dark, too so I assume that it was just the blood remaining in my foreskin. A couple of hours later the remaining thin ring of tissue was completely necrotic except for the small area that had bled. I believe, therefore, that cutting away the excess skin had accelereted the process somewhat. There was a reasonable amount of swelling and bruising which looked bad, but was to be expected I suppose. I then (VERY carefully!) trimmed back the plastic film cannister to just in front of the necrotic area to expose my glans in order to avoid infection as much as I could, and was pleased to see that it looked normal apart from slight swelling on the underside (in the area where the frenum used to be). Then, disaster struck! I got an erection to beat all erections, and the film cannister slipped off! The band of necrotic tissue was very tight and started to crack, and I quickly ran my glans under the cold tap to deflate my penis (works every time for me!) I decided that the best thing to do would be to use surgical tape like butterfly sutures to hold the edges of the wound together, but I reckoned without the amount of exudate (liquid) that came out of the wound- not loads, but still enough to make the tape peel off after a few hours. The tape gave way because of the moisture while I was at work and I noticed a stinging feeling. As soon as I could be alone, I looked at it and discovered that the underside of my poor penis had split open! (to about 10mm at its widest point!) Over the next week or so, I had a nightmare of taping and splitting- I could get it to dry out whilst I was naked, but as soon as I put clothes on to go to work, the moisture would dissolve the scab and the tape adhesive and it would split again. Wounds apparently heal better when kept moist (the necrotic tissue was liquidised by enzymes in a day or so which cleaned the wound bed, but smelled real bad up close) but it seemed to me that if I let a scab form, there was no further splitting- I presume that the scab lent mechanical strength to the wound. I even managed to close the gap a little with tighter and tighter tape. The problem, I discovered, was that as I walked along, the side of my penis rubbed on my leg and when I sat down, it was held against my leg. This slightly sweaty environment coupled with the friction instantly removed any scab formation leaving the wound raw and easy to widen. I solved the problem in part by alternating which leg it rubbed against. Eventually, the top part (which had not split apart at all) went dry and flaky. I rubbed this off, and underneath was a perfect straight line, not so much a scar, but just a shallow groove where two different coloured skins met. This was a relief because at least the top half (well actually way over half) had healed, and only the split on the underside needing tape made the appearance much better.Apart from a little swelling of the inner skin, I now had a good idea what my penis would look like from now on and I was very pleased. The circ seemed tighter than I expected considering the technique I used, but I was glad, as I wanted it tight, and was annoyed that the technique could not give me this (or so I thought). It would seem that life is not without a sense of irony, as I got together with a girl from work whom I had liked for ages, but of course I was unable to do anything about it! Luckily, she hung around long enough for it to fully heal, which ended up being just over a month in total. The first time I had sex after my circ was dissapointing because, although it was healed (no scabs etc.) the scar was still a little tender and this proved to be distracting. I left it a week or so and tried again, and it was such a relief - just as I had imagined it would feel! In conclusion, I would say that I am glad that I was not cut as an infant, because then I might have felt cheated out of my foreskin (which is why I do not agree with this practice) but as an adult, I am overjoyed that I took the plunge and did it!
