X: Escape - Almost

“Just relax and let me think,” Colin said shaking his head to clear it. “First thing we gotta do is figure out these collars. You guys put that boy in one of the beds in the recovery room, an’ I’ll try to get this bleeding stopped so we can think.”

Colin was shocked when he examined his groin. The blood was literally streaming out of him. Remembering his Boy Scout first aid, he put both his hands on the site and pressed as hard as he could and held it. The pain was almost more than he could bear, so he screamed again to relieve some of the pressure. “You’ll bleed to death,” Mark said from the table. “You’re bleeding internally. If you don’t release me to stop that bleeding, you’ll bleed to death.”
“Shut the fuck up, motherfucker!” Colin shouted. He continued to apply pressure to the site and it seemed to be working. The blood flow reduced to a trickle.

“I just thought,” Steve said as he and Gary reentered the room. “That little boy doesn’t have a collar on. He can go anywhere he wants. He can disarm the control mechanism.”
“He doesn’t know where it is or how it works,” Colin said from the floor. “And besides, he’s so drugged it might be hours before he’s got his senses back. If we send him out now he’ll just wander around until someone finds him. We just gotta figure out how those collars work and then disarm them.”

“This is a hell of a mess!” Steve whined. “You got Dr. Mark strapped down on the table, an’ we’re trapped here in the basement like three rats! What’re we gonna do, Colin? How the hell are you gonna get us out of here? We let Dr. Mark up, an’ he’ll kill us for sure. You leave him there an’ we’ll all starve! Is this how your great plan is supposed to work?”
“Shut up, Steve,” Gary ordered. “Can’t ya see Colin’s hurt? Can’t ya see the blood all over him? Dammit, Steve, he tried. What other chance did we have?”
“We’re not beat yet,” Colin said. “I think the worst of the bleeding is over now. I musta ripped a stitch or something when I kicked Dr. Mark, but it’s slowed down now. I think I’ll be all right, but I gotta figure out how those collars work.”
“What can I do?” Gary said. “I’m with ya, Colin.”

Colin led Steve and Gary to the stairs leading up to the first floor. “We can’t go any further,” Steve said. “We start up those stairs an’ we get zapped. And trust me, you don’t wanna get zapped. It hurts like hell!”
“Somebody’s gotta do it,” Colin answered. “I wanna see how the collars work, and maybe I can figure out how to disarm them. You guys stay here and I’ll start up the stairs. Don’t take your eyes off my collar. See if you can see what happens when it zaps me.”
“You’re gonna be sorry,” Steve warned. “It’ll knock you right on your ass.”
“You got a better idea?” Colin retorted. He started up the steps slowly, reminding his companions once again to watch the collar closely to see exactly what happened when it went off. When he got to the third step from the bottom, there was a loud beeping sound, then a loud SNAP! Colin’s body was instantly rigid. He felt a bolt of pain go through his neck, and he lost his balance and fell back to the basement floor, paralyzed.

“I told ya,” Steve said. “There’s no way out. You keep tryin’ and you’re gonna get electrocuted!”
“Either of you see anything?” Colin asked breathlessly as he regained his bearings.
“Yeah,” Gary said. “Your whole neck seemed to light up. There was a kinda bolt of lightning at the sides, an’ then you kinda went all stiff and fell back.”
“Did you see exactly where the bolt of lightning was?” Colin pressed.
“It seemed to be everywhere,” Gary answered. “But it was a little brighter right under your ears.”
“Here?” Colin asked, pointing to his own neck.
“No, more about here,” Gary said, touching Colin’s neck nervously. “Holy shit! There’s a burn spot on your neck.”
“I betcha there’s another one on the other side,” Colin said as he turned for Gary to look.

“Yeah, there is! In the same spot!”
“Ok,” Colin said. “Now we’re gettin’ somewhere. I think I can fuck these things. Steve, you know where there’s any kinda wire or anything?”
“I... I dunno,” Steve said doubtfully. “Maybe in the workroom...”
“Show me,” Colin ordered.

They made their way back through the basement, past where Dr. Mark was still recovering from his attack, to a small unfinished room with a workbench and tools everywhere. Colin looked around, finally discovering what he was looking for. He picked up a small spool of steel wire, probably used to hang pipes or other objects. Taking a length about a foot and a half long, he wrapped one end around his collar about where Gary said he had burn marks on his neck, then wrapped the other end around the other side of the collar. “There!” he said with a grin. “Let’s try it again.”

“You’re out of your mind!” Steve exclaimed. “I’m gonna let Dr. Mark up. Maybe he won’t be too hard on us.”
“You touch those belts and you’ll get some of the same medicine he got,” Colin threatened. “Give me a chance, ok? Please? Or would you rather just go with Rahim?”
“It’s better’n dying like three rats here in this basement,” Steve said. “And it’s also better’n goin’ back to the streets. At least with Rahim we’ll eat regular.”
“Just give me an hour. Please?” Colin could feel blood running down his legs, so he knew he only had an hour or so anyway. “Surely you can wait an hour?”

Steve admitted that they had nothing to lose, so Colin led the way back to the stairs. He started up. “Keep watching,” he instructed the other two. “If I get zapped again, I wanna know exactly where it came from.” He mounted the second step, then the third. His collar began to beep, then there was an even louder CRACK! He felt a slight tingling in his neck, then heat from where the wires were wrapped around the collar, and then the beeping noise went silent. He went up another step, and then another. “I think it short circuited and burned out,” he called back to the others. “I’m gonna go see if I can find the control panel.” Steve and Gary cheered their support as Colin made his way up the rest of the steps.

As he had suspected, there was a small control box sitting on the floor at the top of the steps. He pulled the plug, then called back for the others to join him. “It’s turned off,” he called. His fellow eunuchs scrambled up the steps, and there was no beep, no CRACK, no bolt of electricity. “We’re outta here!” Gary yelled with glee.
“Not yet,” Colin said.
“You can say that again,” Steve said as he started back down the steps. Colin called him back, agreeing that they had Mark to deal with, but first they had other business. “We gotta find some clothes,” he told them. “And I wanna find the control room where he makes all those tapes. And there’s gotta be a computer somewhere, an’ I wanna find out who this Rahim guy is.”

The three eunuchs roamed around the large house, eventually finding everything they wanted and more in the same place: Mark’s palatial bedroom. There was a large desk with a computer monitor glowing on one side of it. On the bed was a pile of new clothes, apparently ready for three boys to wear on their long flight to their new life as eunuch sex slaves. At one end of the room was a door slightly ajar, the glow of many TV monitors showing through the crack. Colin approached the door and pushed it open, followed closely by Steve and Gary. He stepped inside and was confronted by a very large angry looking man holding an even angrier looking handgun.

To be continued...
